The winery owners, Stephen and Paula Dooley started Flying Cloud in 2003 after recognizing an opportunity to create approachable, good quality and food-friendly wines. The new label was focused on Bordeaux varieties from nearby Paso Robles, Sauvignon Blanc from Edna Valley, and work with varieties not included in their Stephan Ross Wine Cellar brand. They have been able to develop the stellar Flying Cloud Wines while keeping them at a value-driven price.
Nuanced, fruity, flavorful wine with roasted barrel character, hints of plum, chocolate pralines, black currants, vanilla caramel, mint, cedar, black pepper and coffee.
Best to be served at around 18°C with red meat dishes, preferably grilled.
